Hook and Knife Charters fishes from two very different boats, a 17’ Bohemian Skiff and a 23’ Tides Bay Boat. Both of these were built by craftsman Robert Helmick.

The Bohemian, named Tailing Pause, is made to stalk fish in the shallowest of conditions. The Kevlar-made lightweight hull is powered by a 70 Yamaha, a Minn Kota trolling motor, and Captain Dave on the poling platform. Tailing Pause, a custom skiff, will quietly float in eight inches on water while we look for tailing redfish in the grass during an exaggerated high tide or on a mud flat at low tide. This boat is made for a single fisherman and can hold two if needed.

The Tides, named Webbed Pause, is a heavy built center console bay boat with a 225 Mercury/Yamaha on the stern. Two live wells, Minn Kota Trolling motor, electronics, storage, coolers, rod holding compartments, and a smooth ride are all part of her package. Easily fitting two fishermen, we can comfortably hold four as well.

Hook and Knife Charters uses Shimano for all rods and reels. If you like the conventional, we’ll bring the Cardiffs and the Calcuttas. If you prefer spinning tackle, we’ll break out the Stradics and the Sustains. Maybe we’ll bring both to play with during your trip. For bigger fish, we use TLDs, Tyrnos, and Trinidads to haul in tarpon and large sharks.
