Captain/Chef Dave consistently works with different organizations to find solutions to the ever present task of finding balance between the fishing industry and conservation efforts in the South Atlantic. The restaurants feature local fish when possible and sell only sustainable fish.

Captain/Chef Dave is a member of the Snapper Grouper Advisory Panel for the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council. This panel is made up of recreational and commercial fishermen, industry representatives, representatives from conservation groups and other interested members of the public. The role of Advisory Panel (AP) members is to advise the Council about trends in fisheries, environmental concerns relating to fishery ecosystems, and management impacts on fishermen and fishing communities. Halyards and Tramici Restaurants work with local fishermen to procure fish before it leaves the dock. The restaurants’ chefs also buy fish from four local fish mongers who primarily buy from local commercial fishermen.
